John von Neumann (1903-1957), Hungarian-American mathematician of extraordinary range, from set theory and quantum mechanics to game theory and economics. The stored-program design that bears his name, the von Neumann architecture, remains the blueprint of nearly every computer built since.
Portrayed in dyforme (2016) as a large-scale photomosaic of 4,800 pictorial elements, dismantled piece by piece by a machine over the course of the exhibition.
