Luis Guillermo Salazar Otero, born in Socorro (Santander), graduated from the Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario in Bogota, holds a doctorate in jurisprudence and a specialization in criminal law from the Universidad Externado de Colombia. He served in the judicial branch as first municipal criminal judge of Socorro, second circuit criminal judge of Socorro, secretary of the Criminal Cassation Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice and magistrate of the criminal chamber of the Superior Tribunal of the judicial district of San Gil.

Salazar took office as a magistrate of the Supreme Court on October 1, 2011.

His portrait, a photomosaic of 4,800 images of the family's destroyed home, of the cell where the artist's father was held, and of the home at the time of the arrest, was created for déformé and destroyed by a machine over the course of the exhibition at Galerie l'OEuvre de l'Autre (Chicoutimi, 2013). One production, one destruction. Five years later, the same face returned, rebuilt in jam labels, in his Marmelade portrait.
